Foodie News x Restaurant Reviews x Hip-Hop Attitude

In 2010, I (Nick Love) spent over 45% of my annual income eating out at some of Atlanta's best (and worst) restaurants. So, who better to guide you through the city's crowded dining terrain?? Now, I, along with my team of Hip-Hop generation foodies, will expose and review ATL's newest hits, hidden gems, and old favorites. Hopefully, this blog will earn us a free meal or two while we point you guys in the direction of some good food and steer you away from the wackness. Let's eat!!!

Review: WING TYME | Perfect Tyming!!!

Name: Wing Tyme
Cuisine: American, Wings, Fish, etc
Neighborhood: Union City
Address: 4737 Jonesboro Rd. Union City, GA 30291
Phone: (770) 969-7970
Menu: http://www.wingtyme.com/#!menus

First off, shouts out to the homey Ray "Hitch" Daniels for putting me on to this place!!!  He's probably the ONLY person who could've gotten me to drive all the way to the Southside to check out a WING spot.  I gotta admit, I was extremely hesitant about making this trip.  But, I'm so glad I did.  This had to be some of the best food we ate during the taping for our pilot season on ATL Bite Life.  Kudos to you, Ray.

Now, there's nothing very special about Wing Tyme from the outside.  It sits very nondescript on the far end of a Wal-Mart shopping plaza.  There's no big sign on Jonesboro Rd that tells you that it's there.  In fact, I had to call Ray like 3 times just figure out where it was.  But, now that I know, I'll never forget.  The food was amazing!!!

Mild, Hot, Honey Hot, and Lemon Pepper Wings
Of course, there were the requisite wings.  They were cooked hard, well seasoned, and juicy just like I like them.  Very comparable to the wings I regularly order at American Deli.  I was impressed.  But, this still wasn't enough to "wow" me.

Cajun Ranch Fries
But then, the cajun ranch fries hit the table.  This item was like the adult version of something you would've concocted in your high school cafeteria during lunch - a delicious combination of french fries, a specially blended cajun seasoning (think Lawry's seasoning salt with a little extra special something something added), topped off with some creamy Ranch dressing.  Definitely not something I'd recommend for you calorie counters but very dope nonetheless.  This was a perfect compliment to their signature wings that I happened to be 3 flats and 2 drums into at the time.  I was happy!!!

Turkey Ribs
But nothing could've prepared me for what came next - Chef Kashif's TURKEY RIBS!!!  Until that day, I had never heard of Turkey Ribs.  I didn't even know that turkeys had ribs.  Lol.  It seems foolish in hindsight but, come on, have YOU ever had turkey ribs??  They were small, tender, flavorful, and quite possibly the best thing I've ever put in my mouth.  And, if I remember correctly, the ribs were almost boneless.  Wait, is that possible??  I don't know.  Honestly, this is just something that you've gotta taste to believe.  For a minute or two, I just stared at my plate and babbled in incomplete, incoherent sentences trying to wrap my brain around what I was digesting.  It was heavenly and sinful at the same time.

Now, as an emerging food critic, I do feel some kind of way about giving an "A" grade to a wing place.  But, on so many levels, Wing Tyme earned it.  The food was impeccable and the service was great.  Chef Kashif's passion for his place and his staff oozed out of every bite.  I promise, if this place wasn't so far away from the house, I'd probably eat here EVERYDAY!!!  I wonder could I convince them to put a location on the Eastside. . .

Anyway, be on the lookout for the show Cooking Convicts which will be based on Chef Kashif and his staff at Wing Tyme.  Follow Ray on Twitter for more details on that.

Happy Eating!!!

Grade: A
What's Great: Food, Service

This place sucks. The wings are little like they came from a chicken from Ethiopia. The owner is a con man ask the barber next door. He will take your money while you think you are investing and run. WATCH OUT! Check out Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. Those are only a few that he hit an ripped people off. He KNOWs nothing but very young women who are barely legal. Ask his ex wife. He isnt a player he is an old paymaster. HE PAYS FOR HIS WOMEN. He gets tricked out by hoes.
