Foodie News x Restaurant Reviews x Hip-Hop Attitude

In 2010, I (Nick Love) spent over 45% of my annual income eating out at some of Atlanta's best (and worst) restaurants. So, who better to guide you through the city's crowded dining terrain?? Now, I, along with my team of Hip-Hop generation foodies, will expose and review ATL's newest hits, hidden gems, and old favorites. Hopefully, this blog will earn us a free meal or two while we point you guys in the direction of some good food and steer you away from the wackness. Let's eat!!!

Review: YEAH! BURGER | Awww Yeah!!!

Name: YEAH! Burger
Cuisine: Burgers / Sandwiches
Neighborhood: Midtown
Address: 1168 Howell Mill Rd. Ste E Atlanta, GA 30318 (between 13th & 14th St)
Phone Number: (404) 963-2384

On a fairly warm Sunday afternoon in ATL back in April, me and video/film director @WatchUNN decided to detour from our original recording studio destination and make a pit stop at one of Atlanta's hottest bun and patty spots - YEAH! Burger.  At that time, I'd traveled past that spot numerous times but knew next to nothing about it.  However, I had heard good things from @MachDigital and @ImJustKeish about the food and my companion on this day seemed pretty confident that I'd be happy with this place.  Boy, was he right!!!

The line was literally out the door when we approached the building.  I was put off by that initially because I just don't believe in waiting in long lines for a BURGER.  But, once I saw the menu, I began to understand the appeal and popularity of this place.  From the choice of patty (beef, bison, turkey, veggie, and chicken breast), bread (white, wheat, or gluten-free), plus a number of cheeses, toppings, and sauces, this place lets you customize the perfect burger for YOU.  I ordered the Turkey Burger on a Whole Wheat bun w/ American cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and Yeah! Sauce (which I'm pretty sure is nothing more than 1000 Island Dressing).  Instead of french fries, I ordered the side Caesar salad.  Finally, I decided to wash it all down with the Peach Mango Organic Black Tea.

The service was fairly prompt.  Even with the restaurant being busy, we didn't wait too long for our food.  Then, the plate presentation was nice.  My burger was brought out with a huge toothpick stuck through it a la grocery store sample style.  Personally, I thought it was little hokey but I'm sure someone else would see that as clever.  But, that toothpick didn't take anything away from the taste.  My turkey burger was GREAT!!!  It was seasoned perfectly and extremely juicy.  The "Yeah! Sauce/1000 Island" added a really nice touch too.  I can't forget to mention that the side Caesar and black tea were excellent compliments.

Like most of the newer eateries around town, the downsides of this place were the parking and seating.  There seems to be a trend in Atlanta to build a restaurant with only 4 available parking spaces and then forcing the customers to park elsewhere.  YEAH! is no different.  The parking deck in the rear isn't too inconvenient though.  And, there are a few 20 minute To Go parking spaces around the building (if you wanna take your chances).  As far as seating, you can't sit down until AFTER you order.  On a busy day, like the day that we were there, you could end up standing up if someone isn't leaving out at the same time.  We ended up being okay but on a warm Atlanta afternoon, I'm SURE that could be a huge inconvenience for someone.

Overall, I was very impressed and I will definitely be back.

Grade: B+
What's Great: Food, Patio, Pick & Choose Menu Options
What Ain't: Seating, Parking
Ideal For: Health Conscious Eaters

The chicken breast sandwich w/ pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, & sauteed mushroom was SLAMMIN!!! The hand-battered onion rings was pretty good, too.
