Over the last 5 years, a number of food trends have cycled thru this great city.  We saw burger joints (Flip Burger Boutique, Yeah! Burger, Grind House Killer Burgers) spring up out of nowhere.  Then, pizza became the flavor of the year (Antico Pizza, Varasano's Pizzeria, Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria).  Cupcakes had a run (CamiCakes, Gigi's Cupcakes, Atlanta Cupcake Factory).  Now, food trucks are all the rave (The Fry Guy, Yumbii, Tex's Tacos).  I won't even start on all the taco spots.  Excuse me, I meant "taquerias". 

So, going into 2012, what's gonna be the new thing in ATL food??  My personal thoughts - it won't be food at all.  The new trend is gonna be. . . DRINKS!!!

With the emergence of products like Isaac's Lemonades (fresh fruit drinks w/ liquor in them) and more specialty drinks that include ice cream and other signature liqueurs, I think you'll start to see more of a cache attached to "going out for drinks".  Pretty soon, we'll be asking "who are you drinking??" much in the same manner as we do celebrities on the red carpet.
