If there's one thing that can consistently get me going, it's good ol' fashioned barbecue!!! The meat, the sauce, the sides. . . BOY-OH-BOY!!! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The smell of charcoal burning and that beef, pork, and poultry slowly cooking brings back memories of family cookouts (FYI, my parents make THE BEST BABY BACK RIBS IN THE WORLD!!!). And, what's the only thing better than a small family cookout?? Well, hopefully it's the Atlanta BBQ Festival.
The 3rd Annual Atlanta BBQ Festival goes down this Friday and Saturday in Atlantic Station w/ food, live music, cooking competitions, and more. If you enjoy the distinct barbecue styles of St. Louis, Kentucky, the Carolinas, Texas's hearty flavor, or that Memphis dry rub (a flavor that I've grown to love over the last year or two), this is the place to be. They're expecting 15,000+ to come across that 17th St bridge and I'm sure that I'll be one of them. More than likely, I'll hit it up on Friday evening while the rest of the city is sitting in traffic.
Tickets for the event are only $6 in advance and are available here. Kids 12 and under are FREE w/ a paid adult.
For more info, Follow Atlanta BBQ Festival on Twitter or Like Atlanta BBQ Festival on Facebook.
Happy Eating!!!
