Now, I, along with my team of Hip-Hop generation foodies, will expose and review ATL's newest hits, hidden gems, and old favorites. Hopefully, this blog will earn us a free meal or two while we point you guys in the direction of some good food and steer you away from the wackness. Let's eat!!!

VIDEO: ATL Bite Life Hits The Atlanta Underground Market

The Atlanta Underground Market was held Saturday, January 7th at the The Atlanta History Center in Buckhead.   Being that The Atlanta Underground Market is made up of roughly 40 local food vendors, it would only be right for the ATL Bite Life crew to stop in, try a few dishes, and let our readers know what we really thought about the event.

The first thing I noticed upon entering the event was the amount of people.  The event began maybe 10 minutes before I walked in and, already, the entire room was consumed.  About 15 minutes after that, the room was pretty much at fire hazard capacity.  With everyone in that small space, it made the room feel about 85 degrees.

Since my goal was to try as many new things as possible, I decided to get in line to try an Arepa (something like flatbread) stuffed with shredded beef, onions, bell peppers, and cheese from Arepa Mia.  It was so yummy and definitely worth the wait (the line for Arepa Mia was LITERALLY out the door).

The next stop was a table called Nice & Spicy. Unfortunately, I the food wasn't spicy at all.  And, there's nothing nice about bland food.  I was terribly underwhelmed and disappointed in the Escovitch Fish & Festival (something like fried dumplings).  I'm a huge fan of Escovitch Fish so when I saw it on their menu, my mouth was prepared for some heat.  But, instead, I got a few pieces of cold, fried Tilapia sprinkled with some type of weak pepper sauce.  I was truly bothered (to put it mildly).

Last, but certainly not least, my favorite item of the night without a doubt was the Prosecco & Blood Orange Curd Cupcakes by Iced Gourmet Cakery.  These cupcakes had a mild citrus flavor balanced by the sweetness of the Prosecco.  To say they were good would truly be an understatement.  These were not the mundane cupcakes found at your local grocery store.  And they certainly were not anything you've baked with your mom as a kid growing up.  These eloquent cupcakes are as grown and sexy as they were delicious!!!  I am really looking forward to seeing and tasting other pieces of artwork by them.

There were so many other food vendors that I really wanted to try but either the lines were too long OR the vendors had sold out of food.  Hopefully, next time, this event will be held in a space big enough to accommodate the people attending.

I personally want to thank the ladies of Sweet Memories, Kushina Catering, Red Cactus Cafe, (I'm leaving out a few ppl) & the entire Atlanta Underground Market. We most definitely will be at as many we can!
